2024 Solar Eclipse

October 8, 2024

Mountain View, Salem, Springfield, Bolivar

Mountain View, Mo will be within the April 8, 2024 eclipse totality

Mt. View's Duration of Totality: 2 minutes, 16 seconds -- (eclipse2024.org)

Other SBU campuses will experience a partial eclipse only.

Salem at 99.1%, Springfield at 97.3%, and Bolivar will be at 96.1%

Never look directly at the sun.  Use appropriate eye protection.  Regular sunglasses DO NOT provide any protection.  Even for a partial eclipse of 99%, the sun is strong enough to burn through your retinas.

According to NASA , the only safe way to look directly at the uneclipsed or partially eclipsed sun is through special-purpose solar filters.
