Checkout info

To check out library materials, bring items to staff at the Patron Services Desk.  Patrons must be able to present their current valid SBU ID card in order to check out library materials.  Most library books may be checked out for a 4 week period with 2 renewals.  Students may have a total of 20 items checked-out.

Books requested from SWAN or MOBIUS may be picked up at the Patron Services Desk.  Patrons must have their current valid SBU ID card to check out these items.

Library materials may be returned to the book drop located at the Patron Services Desk, or deposited in the outdoor book drop located at the front entrance doors to the Jester Learning and Performance Center. Library materials which are not returned in a timely manner will result in fines on the patron’s record.  Library materials which are returned in a damaged condition will be charged to the patron’s account.

Renewal info

Most library materials, including SWAN and MOBIUS books, may be renewed 2 times. Items may be renewed by creating and accessing a library account.  It is best to renew items before they become overdue. Items may also be renewed in person.  Patrons must be able to present a current valid SBU ID card to Patron Services staff in order to renew materials.  Items may be renewed whether they are present or not. Items may be renewed over the telephone by calling Patron Services staff at 417-328-1613 or 417-328-1623.
