What is the ARRT Exam?
The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) is the world’s largest organization offering credentials in medical imaging, interventional procedures, and radiation therapy. They certify and register technologists in a range of disciplines by overseeing and administering education, ethics, and examination requirements. There are 13 credential options you can pursue through ARRT using one of three pathways. While all pathways share the same ethics and examination requirements, they have different education requirements.

- EXAMINATION HANDBOOK for State Licensing Exams administered by ARRT in 2021This handbook provides important information for persons planning to take ARRT-administered state licensing examinations for purposes of state credentialing in Radiography, Nuclear Medicine Technology, Radiation Therapy or a post-primary category.
- Primary Eligibility Pathway Handbook 2021ARRT offers two eligibility pathways toward earning our credentials: primary and postprimary. You can earn some credentials using either eligibility pathway. This handbook discusses the primary eligibility pathway.
- Radiographic content specifications:The primary purpose of ARRT examinations is to assess the knowledge and cognitive skills that entry-level technologists typically need to perform their jobs. Our content specifications identify the topics our exams cover. We only include topics in our content specifications if they’re directly related to one or more activities on the task inventory.
