When using Evidence-Based Practice, the first step is finding and incorporating the best and most recent research available.
There are many reliable places to find the best available evidence. The library databases at your institution or clinical site, association websites, and consulting practice clinical guidelines are just a start.
The library is an excellent place to start when looking for reliable, scholarly research. Library databases, journals and scholarly articles are available to you while you are a student at SBU, but it is important to understand how to search these resources so once you graduate you can apply the same information literacy skills in the workplace.
By utilizing the Conducting Research tab on the left, you can obtain more information on databases, journals, and articles, information contained in each, and searching techniques.
Practice guidelines are available from many sources online. They are not, however, available for every health and medical condition as they take lots of time, effort, and best practice analysis to develop.
