Get Help!

Did you know there are several ways to ask for help from the library staff?

If you are in the Bolivar or Springfield libraries, you are welcome to come to the desk at the front of the library to ask for help. You can also use the Contact Us information bar at the side of this guide at any time.

Who do I contact?

Don't know who the SBU faculty librarians are? On the main library page, select the "Faculty Librarians" link on the right side.

A directory will appear with a list of the SBU Faculty Librarians and how to contact them. You will even have the option to schedule an appointment with a Faculty Librarian directly from this page.

Chat or text with Us

The chat box can be found on the main library page or on the Contact Us banner at the side of the research guide and connects you directly with any available librarian during open hours. During the hours we are not open, the chat box will recommend that you email or call the library.

Select a Faculty Librarian and if they are available, send them a chat to say hello!
If not, send a generic hello and let the person
that answers know you are completing this orientation.

Make an Appointment

As a student of SBU, you can schedule one-on-one research appointments with a Faculty Librarian. By clicking on Services, then Research Consultations, you will be able to select if you want to meet online or at a campus location.

On the next screen, you will see the options to select a Faculty Librarian, date, and time for your research appointment. Make your selections and select continue on the bottom right.

Next you will be asked to submit your details for the research appointment. Please include any research you have already conducted on your topic or specific areas in which you are struggling so a Faculty Librarian can adequately prepare for your appointment.

Once you have filled in all the information, you will confirm the appointment.

If you have any questions before your appointment or need to cancel, please use the link in the email you receive to follow up with your Librarian.
